Problems with Windows loading

:smileyindifferent: I have a Dell 8400 with a sata hard drive and every time it tries to boot up windows xp home the blue screen of death will come out. The error says something about a previous installation that did not complete. How do i repair windows so it will boot again so i wont loose any of my data. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

First, boot, press F12 and run the Dell diagnostics.

Well now i know how to get through these steps the only problem is that when the computer initially boots it will not pick up the hard drive since it is not an IDE it is on the SATA and i believe it is setup as raid and Dell has some sort of software that will load up off the hard drive before it even boots to windows thus seeing the drive.

Before you boot your system press f2 check to see if the PC bios is set to detach if there is a drive setting for that drive should be seen under drives list look and make sure that it has been  turned on

Most default settings on dells PC are not always set to turn on .

P.S  More info: on what it says or if there is a error code in the start that might tell me if there is a possible virus in the radd partition. And do you get to windows at all.

Hope this helps :smileywink:bthenerd
