Recovering data...

Hello. My manager has a Inspiron 9100 notebook that the motherboard recently went out. He has some data on the notebook hard drive he needs to get off. I was wondering if it was possible to take an Ultra ATA-to-USB cable (if it even exists) and plug that into his desktop so he could copy the data from the notebook hard drive to the desktop hard drive?
If an Ultra ATA-to-USB cable does exist, do you know where I could get one? I searched on Dell's website but could not find one.
Thank you for any help.

It's easier to use a USB external case. For example,

You'll need to take ownership of the files to copy them.
