Retrieve files

Question

I have a Inspiron 1520.  After I tried to install a Windows update (Service pack) it will no longer boot up.  Dell service says all they can have me do is reinstall VISTA and I will losel everything saved.  They said I could take notebook to a tech and they may be able to back up my data.  My notebook is less than a year old and I do not have the $ to pay for this.  Can anyone tell me how to do this and if it is difficult.  I have 2 more of the exact same notebooks.  Can I remove the hard drive from the non workng computer and put it in one that is working to copy the files without any damage.  Honestly it probably is above my knowledge of computers but thought I would at least ask and give it a try. Thanks.

Hi

If the drive does not boot it will not boot

for the other laptops !

You can buy a USB case mount the drive in it and get the info

off of it that way !
