(Selected boot device not available) Help!
Hello, first time to the forums. I have a problem, I am trying to do a clean install to my Dell XPS 600 to change it from 32 bit to 64 bit windows 7. The problem is when I try to boot the install dvd from my dvd rom it gives me the error (Selected boot device not available) I have looked all over the forums for answers but I couldn't find any. This is what I've tried, startup computer press f12 and select onboard or usb cd rom drive which I am presuming to be my dvd rom because the other is my hard drive (onboard SATA hard drive) After I click (onboard or usb cd rom drive) it gives me the error (Selected boot device not available) Please help.

Hi strategicsam,
Try setting the controller mode to ATA in the BIOS.

Thank you osprey4 for your help. I found a different way to do it though I used a usb on startup instead.

Hello,
I have a Dell Optiplex 380.
I try to boot on the UBS CD-ROM Drive.
It says "Bootmgr missing". We could not find any solution.
And we also tried to boot it on the USB Device and it failed again.
It says "Selected boot device not available"
Help please !
