Setting up mirror or RAID 1

is there a document i can use to reference for the reinstall of windows XP and setup the raid 1? I have done this several times now and have failed to get it done. I was told to press F6 right away on install and give it the 3rd party adapter driver. Ive done this and still cant get the disk manager in widows to let me set up a mirror. HELP!

The mirror is set up in the BIOS, before Windows is loaded.  Once you have the mirror built, then boot the WIndows CD, pause and load the drivers for the RAID controller.

I have installed the Array Management utility and it doesnt let me do anything. Its like it doesnt recognize the controller or drives or something. I tried Dell's phone support and 3 times they attempted to send me to "Advanced O/S Support" and couldnt get me through ... and 3 times I had to tell the basic support person my problem so that they could agree that it was an advanced issue. I ended up losing patience and hung up.

When you boot the system, you should see a RAID configuration option pop up, with a hotkey.  If you don't, something is wrong with the way the drives are cabled or plugged in.

How sure are you of what you speak?

Quite sure - if you have the drives cabled to the RAID controller, you should see its BIOS pop up when you boot the system.
