Sonic Support questions
Have any of the experts here found
support.sonic.com/ to be of any earthly use?
I have Sonic's DigitalMediaPlus (v7) and MyDVDPlus(v8) pre-installed on my Dim.9100/WinXP MCE 2005, and have the backup CD for both. Plus I have all Sonic updates from Dell downloads. And I've re-installed the software several times, for various glitches.
When I go to the Sonic website for updates, or even to access the knowlegebase or support the, all I get is grief. Never mind I have registered with the same valid email several times, they still ask for a log-on password. Only problem is- I was never asked to make a password in the first place! So I pick the option to generate a new password- and they say it is sent to my email- but nothing ever arrives.
Every 2nd link I click on is a shill to upgrade, but no real support is to be had. But lots of the following message:
"Due to current high demand, the page you are looking for cannot be delivered right now."
"Due to current high demand, the page you are looking for cannot be delivered right now."
And even though I declined to accept new promotions/offers from Sonic every time I registered- they still clog my inbox.
Sorry for the long post, but this nonsense has been going on for a year now.
Since I can burn audio CD's easily with WMP10, and DVD's (both recorded TV video and data) in MCE, is there any advantage to keeping this Sonic product? I don't do a lot of burning, but want to keep my options open.

Many forum regulars use Nero. You can buy Nero OEM Suite usually for about $7. The only things it cannot do are encode SVCD or DVD video. If you have a program to do the encoding, though, Nero can burn both SVCD and DVD movie discs. The regular Nero can do everything. The current version is Nero Ultra 7, which you can find for about $40. Or you can get the previous version, which has a couple fewer bells and whistles, for about $25-30. You can download a fully functional demo and try it for 30 days until it stops working.
Oh, and to answer your first question, no, I have never gotten any useful information from the Sonic site.
