I just received an Inspiron M600 for Christmas. I just started loading songs/cd's into ITunes and noticed my CD/DVD player sounds like it is near death. It alternates between a growling and skipping noise and some tunes inorted into Itunes sound terrible (because of skipping and growling).
Please tell me if I should request a new drive.

Hi,
I will suggest to to reseat it, if the behaviour continus call dell technical support to get a replacement.

I did that. I remember reading (back in October) that a lot of people where having problems with this drive. I am surprised no one commented.
