SSD?

Does the Inspirion N 5040 support a Solid State Drive?

Yes, it will take a standard, SATA SSD in place of its hard drive.

Thank you. I had to send my laptop to Dell for a damaged hard drive and asked them to upgrade (my expense) to a SSD and they told me the machine would not support it. But I didn’t believe them. Why would they say that?

Hi mdr123,

If they're doing a warranty repair, all they'll do is replace the covered part. If you want to upgrade to an SSD, you're better off buying the drive and installing it yourself.
