Startup

My Dimension 2350 will not boot up properly. After turning on the computer and clicking an idividuals account, the computer shuts itself down completely without warning. Each additional try will result in the computer shutting down even earlier. This happens even if I try to boot up in safe mode.

Boot, immediately press F12 and run the Dell diagnostics on the system.

Tried the F12, but system kept shutting down during this process.
As a help to other users: Ended up calling Dell support.
The problem was I had a corrupt operating system. I had to reload Windows XP.
They walked me through it, although if you have questions about the process, you can tell they are reading straight from a book. Everything is good now though.
Did not download anything or make changes to my system so why this occured is still a mystery.
Thanks for your help.
