Stop Error Code 0x7E

I had to replace the hard drive in my Inspiron B130 so I bought a new 80Gb drive from Dell along with a memory upgrade to 1Gb.  I removed the old drive, installed the new drive and memory, inserted the Reinstallation CD into the drive after changing the boot sequence and powered up the computer.  Things went real well until I got the prompt "Starting Windows".  I then got the stop error message referencing a PCI code.  I suspect that my reinstallation CD is outdated and have asked Dell for new ones.  All the information I can find states that the problem is specific to SP 2.  Anyone out there experienced this problem before?  Any help is appreciated

Complete error message is as follows:

STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xF748E0bf, 0cf78da208, 0xf78d9508)

PCI.sys address F748e0BF base at F7487000, date stamp 3b7d855c

Insipron B130 Laptop

Windos XP home

80536 Celeron M Dothan 360, 1.4GHz processor

Wireless mini PCI card 1470 broadcom corp

1 Gb Ram single DIMM

Original HDD was 40Gb Fujitsu, Replaced with 80 GB

I would really appreciate help with this.

Does your installation CD have SP-2 on it?  For that machine I believe it to be necessary as you have a PCI-Express interface.

Thanks for your response.  I have checked every folder on the reinstall CD and SP2 is not to be found.  I am pretty certain that is where the hang up is.  Everything I have been able to find on the net has pointed in that direction.  I should receive the new CD's from Dell this week and hopefully that will solve my problem.  Again, thanks for your input and keep up the good work.

Thanks for your kind words, but I don't know that you would find a folder on the CD specifically labeled Service Pack 2.  The OEM CDs state on the label that the CD contains SP-2.  If you are using a do it yourself slip-streamed disk it is a bit more trouble if the information wasn't written on it by the maker.  You will likely need to look at file dates and I'm afraid my knowledge doesn't extend that far.

In any case, good luck to you!

I am using the Reinstallation CD that came with the coumputer and all that it says is "Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition".  Again, Thanks for your help.
