Welcome to the forums :emotion-21:
It'll state in the laptop 'specifications' on the Dell website what type of drive it is? The icon for the drive (in 'My Computer') should also tell you?
Anyways... it's actually a DVD burner (which can burn CD's as well of course) :emotion-5:
For future reference though, there are a number of (free) 'SysInfo' (System Information) programs available.
The better ones will tell you all you'll ever need to know about the specific hardware/components in your system. Some even list the software, and driver versions too.
You'll find most of the programs on this Major Geeks page.
I recommend choosing ones with the latest release dates, since those are obviously the ones which are still being developed/updated.
Examples include: Belarc Advisor, Auslogics System Information, HWiNFO32, SIV, SIW, etc etc.
