Are you saying that the Zip Drive is the C:/ drive?

Do you have a Zip Drive installed?

Have you reinstalled recently XP?

Bev.

Thanks for replying.

No The zip drive is not the C drive but the ZIP drive is Disk0 if you look at the disk managment window.

Yes I do have internal ZIP drive.

No XP ws not recently installed.

The reason I need to switch Disk0 to DIsk1 is I am installing PGP and to do the PGP encyption it is looking at DIsk0  for the boot drive but on my disk0 I have the ZIP drive.

Thanks,
Gilbert

thermal event

As the Zip drive is an IDE drive it must be connected to the D-8400 motherboard's PRI IDE connector.

To change the setting, all you need to do, is to connect the Zip Drive to end connector of the IDE ribbon cable and the optical drive to the middle connector.

Note: Dell use 'Cable Select' jumper settings.

The D-8400, supports SATA hard drives. the 'Master' hard drive [C:/] should be connected to SATA-0 connector.

Bev.

Oooppps I did not see your reply about the SATA " The D-8400, supports SATA hard drives. the 'Master' hard drive [C:/] should be connected to SATA-0 connector"

I'll double check about the IDE connections of the zip and optical drive.

Thanks again.

Yep, this should make the Zip drive the secondary 'Master' and the SATA hard drive connected to '0' will be the primary 'Master' C:/ boot drive.
