Track writing errors while burning CD's
I have a Dimension 4500 with a Samsung CD rw. Last year, I was having the same errors and received a new burner from Dell. Worked fine for about 7 months and then this one started doing the same thing. It will burn halfway or more thru the selections and then the drawer opens and the track errors pop up. We tried taking the recording speed way down and that sometimes works. Anybody else having this problem?
I will NOT call tech support again! That guy had me going all over in my system. By the time we tried to burn a CD, my computer would not recognize my burner OR my DVD and A drive!!! Then he tells me my Windows XP is corrupt and I must reinstall it! And how am I to backup my files? Well, he tells me to go hire someone to help! I restored my computer back to yesterday and life went on.
THANKS DELL FOR SENDING ALL YOUR JOBS TO INDIA!!!

Hi Lottylee,
There may be a firmware update from Dell for your drive, sometimes this help correct minor & major issues with drives. Use the Downloads link under Product Support, follow the directions.
Some standard steps: Click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 15, articles 1, 14 & 13; Section 12, articles 1, 2, 10 & 3; Section 11, article 9.
Best Regards
God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do and the eyesight to tell the
difference.

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the reply. Went to the link but since I did a restore, my drives are being recognized just fine (no thanks to tech support!)
I have been unable to find a firmware update on my Samsung SW-2408. If you can be of assistance, I would greatly appreciate it! I have consistently stopped by the Dell site, thinking an update would be posted for this problem. I am even pondering buying new software...
Love your graphics!
