I'm getting the same error on a Precision 610 with Win2K and all updates installed. There is no indication of what is causing it. Sometimes it can't recover and the system reboots. This is my bosses PC so I'm catching grief every time it happens. I'm wondering whether there is any kind of a diagnostic I can run that might help identify the problem.
I have a PowerEdge 2650 Server loaded with Win2K, SP4 and all updated service packs and security fixes. We are running this as a SQL Server version 7.0 and have four applications or databases residing on it. I have moved all applications off and onto a new SQL 2000 box.
The problem that we are having is that twice yesterday, the screen turns black, a small dialog box appears that states "unknown hard error" with and OK button. You can hit the OK button several times with little effect. You have to hard boot the system to bring it back up.
The server power is on and you can ping the NIC without any problem. However, you cannot make any connections into the box including ODBC connections for SQL.
