USB 3.0 failure
Hello!
i hope i did not post on the wrong place?hope that this post belongs to here ;)
laptop: dell inspiron 14r N4110
i got usb 3.0 port but then when i tried to plug in external hard disk 3.0 on my Usb 3.0 port, my things start to transfer at a very fast rate, but not for long.
the speed reduce dramatically after a while and soon, its not transferring, and my computer start to hang, not reponding and bla bla bla...
i cant do anything...nothing is giving me respond not even start a task manager..the only way i can use my laptop again is forced shutdown by holding down the power button on my laptop.
that eternal hard disk actually works fine on my friend's laptop, so its not the hard disk problem..
by the way, i never realize this problem before my warranty expired before i haven't try any usb 3.0 on those port before.
so , now i cant get technical help from dell support.
anyone know how to fix this problem?(without have to send my laptop to dell centre...)
needing help desperately =(
desperate kid,
Zc Cheah

Hi ZC Cheah,
I am sorry to hear that system stops responding when you connect a compatible external hard drive to the USB 3.0 port on the laptop.
I suggest you to update the BIOS and USB 3.0 drivers for the laptop. You can download the drivers from the following link and install them in the same order:
1. BIOS: http://dell.to/W9AIAl
2. USB 3.0 Controller: http://dell.to/RUrErw
Please reply to this message if you need further assistance.

Thanks Rajath N for your quick reply. I just got a USB 3.0 external hard disk plug into my computer after I've done installation of 1 and 2 as you've mentioned above.
still, transfer for a moment, laptop stop transferring at the middle and stop responding.
any other solution?
