This is really a Windows question, not related to your hard drive. Post over in the XP forum. Yes, there are updates that should be avoided, but off hand I'm not sure which they are.
Well, aside from posting to the wrong forum, & spelling errors (I've done both, I understand) I guess it is a passable Rant.
Question is, would you like us to help you resolve your issue?? If you go to like the software forum, & post your O/S, System model, & maybe some specifics on what you think qualifies as SLOW & why, I'm willing to be we can give you some advise (aside from criticizing you post) that may actually resolve your issue.
What is your problem dagreezerus? Who are you to judge this person, nick picking on spelling, if the guy wants to rant let him, it is none of your business, who died and made you the big boss? You should do a some reading
Who made me boss, nobody. I'm not boss of anyone except my little ole self.
I believe I made it clear that I'm not above spelling errors, & I acknowledged that the poster was upset. I did offer advice on what might actually get his problem resolved, & I admit I was a bit tongue in cheek with my response. But, I really don't think I'm deserving of a bashing for it.
Continue following me on the boards, it is interesting reading. Even though I'm not sure what I've done to deserve the honor of your scrutiny.
Other than that, you should probably start looking in the usual places for slow performance (startup/background programs, IDE controller set to UDMA mode, etc.).

The one I have personal experience with is 811493, but I believe they updated the patch. But check here for more information:
