Write Protection

I would like to remove write protection on my harddrive for an 8200. This is so that I can copy files from both computers instead of having to do the copying from the 8200. How can I do this? If you need more specifics I can provide you with them. Thanks

You will have to do the same thingg on both PC's. Open My Computer. Click on the drive or folder you want to share with the other system. From there follow the prompts. You may need your Windows CD to complete the process. Also it my be wise to set a password for the shared folder or drive to keep hackers out when you are online.

Thanks, but maybe I didn't fully explain myself....I have the folder shared over the network. From the 8200 I can transfer files to the other computer, but when I try to access the shared folder on the 8200 from the other computer it says: Access denied....Write Protected. So essentially I want to move files between computers either both ways and from both computers instead of needing to move files through the 8200. Thanks for your post.

When you set the folders to share there is also an option to give full access rights to be able to write amd move files from the other system. Make sure both systems are set the same as far as acess rights. It's has something to do with the security level the shared folder is set at. Hope that helps.

Everything is set up the way you described. I can access the folder, but I still can't drag any of the files from one computer to the other.

I don't think you will be able to drag and drop between the 2 systems. You can copy the files or make changes, but I what you're trying to I do not believe is supported.
