Support Assist Hardware Scan Fail
Hardware scan fails when trying to run it. Even when I retry, it fails again. Everything else in Support Assist works.
Please help me resolve this issue.

Your post has limited info. It doesn't mention XPS model # and OS.
I take it you mean Support Assist is the failure and not some part. Making sure we're on the same page.
If PC is working normally, reinstall Support Assist or uninstall it and forget about it all together. Depending on PC and OS, you'll continue to receive updates.

Thanks for the info. I suggest uninstalling Support Assist and leaving it. If your PC is working normally, you have nothing to worry about. SA has worked for me, but hasn't worked for everybody.
You'll still continue to receive OS and BIOS updates through Win11.

Hi SCHIEMSS:
I removed all SupportAssist-related software from my Inspiron 5584 after my Dell service warranty expired because they were too buggy and consumed too much RAM and CPU - see my 08-Feb-2025 post in ygil's BSOD Issues After Windows Updates. However, I believe that installation of SupportAssist v4.10.x still creates a service called Dell TechHub that is required to run hardware diagnostics in SupportAssist. Open your Windows Services and confirm that the Dell TechHub service is present, has a Startup Type of "Automatic (Delayed Start)" and has Status of "Running". Here's an old image I captured a few years ago when I was still using SupportAssist and SupportAssist OS Recovery (sometimes called SupportAssist Remediation):
You should also go to Control Panel | Programs | Programs and Features and confirm that Microsoft .NET Desktop Runtime v8.0.x is installed, since this .NET Desktop Runtime is a pre-requisite for SupportAssist v4.10.x - see the minimum system requirements <here> in the latest release notes. From my Inspiron 5584:
IMPORTANT: After installing Microsoft .NET Desktop Runtime 8.0.x the word ".NET" will not appear in the program name.

If your SupportAssist harware diagnostics won't run correctly keep in mind that you can still run ePSA (enhanced Pre-boot System Assessment) hardware diagnostics from your BIOS as instructed in the support article How to Run Dell Preboot Diagnostics and Hardware Tests on Your Dell Computer and companion video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inYLxW2_xKo (i.e., restart your computer, repeatedly tap the F12 key as soon as the Dell logo appears, and choose Diagnostics from the boot menu screen). The ePSA will initially run a standard Quick Test of all your hardware components, and if a problem is detected you can run an Advanced Diagnostic Test for that specific hardware component as instructed in that Dell support article.
Dell has posted lookup tables for any error codes generated by ePSA scans that start with a 2000-0xxx, 2000-4xxx or 2000-8xxx.
