Clearing the BCD.LOG
I am running into an error for backups on this Dell PowerEdge T430 server where the backup error message says the BCD and the BCD.LOG are in use. Upon speaking to the backup vendor (Evault) multiple times, I finally got an answer that the BCD.LOG file needs to be cleared because it is too large for the partition for a snapshot to start. I am unable to find a way to access this partition. I have given it a drive letter through diskpart, and I can find the file with a dir /s /a:h command, but other than that, I cannot do anything. I have no permissions to view it in the gui or move it from system level command-line. Thoughts?

Hello
I suggest checking the format type of the partitions on the system. If I recall correctly, I think we did OEM installations with FAT32 and NTFS mixed in some scenarios. I vaguely remember something like this causing backup software to have issues accessing files or performing backups. If that is the case then you should be able to locate an article on it. You would need to move the boot files off of the FAT32 partition.
I suggest that you use Microsoft tools to manipulate boot files. I would try to avoid manipulating system or registry files in diskpart. I think bcdedit is the utility you would use. You may need to boot into a recovery environment to make some changes.
Thanks

I will go ahead and work on scheduling a time, hopefully tomorrow afternoon to work this potential solution out. When I have a result I will post back here. Any other responses or nuggets of information in regards to this issue will be greatly appreciated.
