DSM SA Connection Service

Hello everybody,

I have recently updated Dell Server Administrator software. Today after server restart dsm_om_connsvc32.exe is crashing. Below is event log message. When I try to start DSM SA Connection Service manually I get an error "The DSM SA Connection Service service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do, for example, the Performance Logs and Alerts service."

Never had any issues with Dell Server Administrator software so dont really know where to start troubleshooting. Could anybody advise where to start?

This is running on Windows SBS 2003.

Thanks for posting!  Usually if that service stops then starts, either port 1311 is blocked, or there is a security program stopping it.  Since it is crashing rather than just stopping, your install may be corrupt.  First, I suggest logging in as the Administrator and uninstalling OMSA, then do a fresh install.  During the install, go through the custom options and change the port to 10010 or some other unused port number.  If you still have problems after that, you probably have a security program that is blocking that service.

Thanks for the suggestion. It might be that DNS is taking that port. Had something similar with blackberry server, DNS took ports as well. I am going to stop it and try to start the service. It was working fine before so I hope that is the issue. Thanks again.

Thanks for the tip.  Fixed our "dsm_om_connsvc32.exe"  NT Service issue as well.
