With the iDRAC you can connect to it and issue power on and power off commands. But not schedule it.

In most operating systems you can schedule a shutdown to occur, but the OS will not power on the server.

Is there something specific you are trying to accomplish with this task?

A shutdown is easy; script the OS to shut down at the time you want.

Power-up is more involving; you may need to enable WoL or so and then use another system to send the WoL packets to power the server up again.

If you are using a DRAC to perform the power off and on, then things will not change based on the OS. All of the tasks are performed through the DRAC interface.

If you are performing the remote shutdown through the OS, then yes it will change based on the OS.

The UPS supplies power to the server, it does not have a way to issue a power off/restart command.

Yes, RACADM commands do work inside Linux.
