Predicted failure drive pulled without being placed offline

A drive in pred fail was mistakenly hot-swapped without being placed offline first. RAID re-built successfully to a hot spare but the replacement drive isn't registering with the controller. Still shows as if it is the old drive in the slot.

Is there a method for recovering from this scenario?

Hello,

If it rebuilt successfully, you should be fine and able to treat this as a reporting error. Even just restarting may resolve the problem.

What PERC controller are you using, and what model server? Regardless, I think your array will likely be fine.

Spoiler
It is a H710P in a PE620. The RAID is fine and healthy, I would just like the replacement disk to be able to be setup as a hot spare, just can't get it to stop showing failed and offline.

I will see about scheduling a reboot to see if that allows the PERC to recognize the drive properly.

Thank you!

With that in mind, I'd expect a reboot to clear it up. The issue may even just be with OpenManage, or the iDRAC. Restarting the OMSA services or issuing a racadm racreset may be all that is needed. They should be identifiable using DSM leading text, if I recall correctly.
