1. Re Run Hijackthis
  • At the Main window select " Open the misc tool section"
    Then select " Open uninstall manager"
    Then " save list" and save it to your desktop


Copy and paste that list as a reply to this thread

2. Click Start ->> My Computer ->> Rt Click C:\ ->> Select Properties
  • Under the General tab you will see some numbers indicating Used Space and Free Space.
    They will be in GB
    In your reply post those numbers

You are most welcome.

1. Go to Add or Remove Programs (Clikc Start ->> Control Panel ->> Add or Remove Programs) and uninstall the folowing programs
  • Coupon Printer for Windows
    CouponBar
    Internet Explorer Default Page

Close Add or Remove Programs

2. *NOTE* CCleaner deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders. If you have anything in a temp folder, back it up or move it to a permanent folder prior to running CCleaner!

Download CCleaner from here to clean temp files from your computer.


  • Double click on the file to start the installation of the program.
  • Select your language and click OK, then next.
  • Read the license agreement and click I Agree.
  • Click next to use the default install location. Click Install then finish to complete installation.
  • Double click the CCleaner shortcut on the desktop to start the program.
  • On the "Windows" tab, under "Internet Explorer," uncheck "Cookies" if you do not want them deleted. (If deleted, you will likely need to reenter your passwords at all sites where a cookie is used to recognize you when you visit).
  • If you use either the Firefox or Mozilla browsers, the box to uncheck for "Cookies" is on the Applications tab, under Firefox/Mozilla.
  • Click on the "Options" icon at the left side of the window, then click on "Advanced." deselect "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours."
  • Click on the "Cleaner" icon on the left side of the window, then click Run Cleaner to run the program.
  • Caution: It is not recommended that you use the "Issues" feature unless you are very familiar with the registry as it has been known to find legitimate items.
  • After CCleaner has completed its process, click Exit.

3. Reboot your PC ->> Rerun Hijackthis and post a fresh Hijackthis log

It seems to be running a little better.  I removed some programs and fixed the start-up programs and that also seemed to help.  I was wondering if you could help with one other thing.  I have the Windows Defender program but I am not sure what other anti-virus or anti-sparware program I should have.  The yahoo pop-up keeps telling me I do no have protection.  I removed Windows Live One since it was interfering with Windows Defender.  I am not sure if I am protected? Also is there anything else I can do to stop this problem of slowness in the future? Thank you for your help and time as you can tell I am not the smartest when it comes to this stuff.

I would uninstall these, they are not needed with Vista and Defender
  • CA Yahoo! Anti-Spy (remove only)
    Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.4

Since you removed One Care you need a Antivirus Program

Go HERE and download AVG free.
Download it, install it, allow it to update and run a full system scan.
