Booting process too slow
Hello!!
Is there any solution to decrease the boot time after restart? I am facing this issue, since last 2 months. Any suggestion, and support will be highly appreciated.

Hi Helin1:
When you post back to tell us your Dell computer model, the version and OS build number of your Windows operating system [open a Run dialog box (Windows key + R) and enter winver] and results of your hardware diagnostic it would also be helpful if you could post an image of the Startup tab of Task Manager, sorted by the CPU at Startup column.
NOTE: If the CPU at Startup column is not visible then right-click in one of the column headers and select "CPU at Startup" to add this column.
The above image from my Inspiron 5584 / Windows 10 laptop shows:
If you don't have SupportAssist v5.0.x installed on your system you can still run a hardware diagnostic using the ePSA (enhanced Pre-boot System Assessment) diagnostics built into your Dell BIOS. See the instructions in the support article How to Run Dell Preboot Diagnostics and Hardware Tests on Your Dell Computer and companion video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inYLxW2_xKo (i.e., restart your computer, repeatedly tap the F12 key as soon as the Dell logo appears, and choose Diagnostics from the boot menu screen). If the initial ePSA Quick Test detects a problem post back and let us know the exact error code (e.g., 2000-0xxx) it generates.
NOTE: I removed ALL SupportAssist-related software (including Dell SupportAssist, Dell SupportAssist Remediation, and Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery Plugin for Dell Update) in March 2023 after my Dell service warranty expired because they were too buggy and consumed too much RAM and CPU - see my 08-Feb-2025 post in ygil’s BSOD Issues After Windows Updates. The only Dell software I still have on my system is the My Dell v2.2.6.0 UWP app and the companion Fusion Service this app requires.

Please can you confirm the Make Model and OS, along with any configuration details like touch screen, backlit keyboard, SFF or tower etc etc.
You don't mention the actual time taken, and what would be considered acceptable.
Also you don't include the results of the hardware diagnostic to show if the POST is the potential cause.
As it is after a restart, there could be a delay in the "closing down" part of the restart.
All in all we need more details, so Help us to Help you.

Hi Helin1:
Could you provide further details about what "Done the process as mentioned below in SS" means? I was not suggesting that you turn off all your startup programs, since some of those programs probably need to start at bootup in order for Windows Security and certain hardware components like your graphics and audio devices to run correctly throughout the day.
Again, if you require further assistance please let us know your Dell computer model, the version and OS build number of your Windows operating system [open a Run dialog box (Windows key + R) and enter winver] and results of your SupportAssist or ePSA hardware diagnostic. It would also be helpful to know what startup program(s) you disabled in order to decease your boot time.

NOTE: If your computer is still under warranty you can contact Dell customer support directly by clicking the blue "Get Help Now" button located in the bottom-right corner of each page of this forum. This will start a Live Chat session, and after you type in a brief summary of your problem the automated Dell-Cares chat bot will ask for your email address and the unique Service Tag of your computer. Once it confirms you still have a valid service warranty it should connect you to a live customer service rep.

Hi Helin1:
Just a warning that there currently appears to be a problem creating posts in the Dell forum. See my 04-May-2026 topic Repeated Failures to Post Replies.
If you see a "Failed to create comments. Please try again" error message and your post disappears just refresh the page (or log out of the forum and come back in ~ 15 minutes) and you will likely find that your reply has posted correctly.
