High Idle Memory Usage
I have a brand spanking new 1520 with 3Gb of ram, 2.2Ghz CPU, 250Gb HDD and 6600M GT video card running external 24" 2407 LCD at 1920*1200 and internal (albeit off) LCD at 1680 * 1050. My concern is that when everything is loaded (minus Defender, Sec Centre and a few uneeded services BUT with Trend 2008 Internet/Virus Suite and Aero/Sidebar on) the Laptop uses abut 35% CPU at idle......that's over a 1Gb!!
Does this seem excessive? What is everyone else's idle usage?
Let's not even bring up the subject of the 68!!!! processes running.

Yes, that's normal for Vista. As I type this mesage with nothing else going on I'm using 35% (1.38 gb) of the 4 gigs RAM I have. Good ol Vista!

15% of 2GB for me.....
...in XP.
You guys have been had! I wish everyone would just tell Microsoft that we don't want Vista and that we could be given the option to buy new systems with XP installed again; and that Microsoft would restore full XP product support and software updates.
EDIT:
LOL! I just thought about it...
Offering only Vista with new products is like a marketing ploy by Microsoft to increase sales of retail XP copies!!

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion ty_ger.
I don't think I've been "had" by using Vista.
In my opinion though, your looking at a possible future system performance issues with your clocks.
PCI-E bus o'cd from 100mhz to 115mhz
Your 8800GT memory clock (assuming you have a reference card)
1800mhz reference
2000mhz reference limit of card
2070mhz your clock
Just my opinion

Thanks for be concerned.
My specs below are really misleading. Those are just the best figures I could run stably on this system.
The specifications of what I actually run are:
3.44GHz CPU
1,720MHz FSB
1,032MHz memory (have to bump CPU up to 3.53 to achieve the rated 1066MHz but the performance diff is little)
115MHz PCI-E (is this an item for concern)
640MHz GPU clock
960MHz video memory clock
I get about low 12,000 3dmark06 with this setup as above
