Net Framework and XP:

I just recently have reinstalled XP on a 250 GB Western Digital, after my original hard drive failed. Everything generally has been better than expected as my experience with computers is not all that great but vastly improving. $83.99 for the western digital, a no brainer.
After visiting Windows update several times.(Needed 83 critical updates alone and me with dialup still.) I got the critical updates done and than I looked at the software section and had 12 updates for me to select from. I have not got them all. I am curious about 3 of them, the Net Framework 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0 .
I down loaded the 1.1 Net Framework and it changed the way I came to my desktop, now I get a welcome screen adding the ASP.Net account I believe. After some searching here at dell's forum I have found that I can just delete the account without any repercussions!! (Thanks again Denny)
My Question is if I do download the Net Framework 2.0 and eventually 3.0 will it do other changes to my computer? (at 22 MBs each, a large download for dialups) Because I like it the way it is right now.

 Thanks
 Malron

True, but you can run into some Web Based Apps that might need it.

I would not install Net Framework unless you know you need it. Only specialized software needs any of these.

I can install the other 2 Net Frameworks 2.0 and 3.0, but my question is will they do any other changes to my system or does it depend on how its configured?
And thanks to the both of you for answering my post.

that thing where installing NETFramework 1.1 changed the way that you had to login to windows is a bug.. if you install the updates for NETFramework 1.1(from "microsoft updates" ), it will be straightened out..

NETFramework 2 does not have the same bug and so no, it doesn't change the way that you login to windows.. i haven't bothered with installing NETFramework 3, but you can if you want to, after installing NETFramework 2..

i wouldn't have installed NETFramework if i didn't have to, but my ATI radeon drivers require it..

some drivers for HP products (printers, scanners, copiers) also require NETFramework..

i only have NETFramework 2 installed, along with its updates from "microsoft updates"..
