Hello again,

The error message that you are seeing is being caused by the program "Dell Support Center".

That program is installed by Dell at the factory to help them in providing tech support should you need to contact them. The "Dell Support Center" software is a common cause of problems on many Dell computers. As such, it is being suggested that you uninstall the program from your system to solve your errors. The original response suggested that if you feel that you need the program, (not needed in my opinion) that once the software is uninstalled, reinstalling it may allow the program to function without errors.

Edit to add: Here is one of many links about your error message.

This message is from the Dell support center.

Try uninstalling and then if your really sure reinstall it.

But truthfully you are better off without it. Any of the functions it performs you can do for yourself, like checking for driver updates. The vast majority of users just uninstall it and are perfectly happy without it.

I get the impression that these are unnecessary responses. I was hoping to find a solution to a real problem.  I still have no idea as to what should be reinstalled or what i'd be better off without. in the meantime here is my problem ... again.

When I turn on my computer I am getting a message as follows:

Failed on loading skin name "minibcont". The file "shell.css" is required in your "sscommon/skins/minibcont/css/" directory.

To fix this problem, please check the skin name in your config file or reinstall this application.

This window will be closed.

At the end of that statement there is a "OK" button. When I click "OK" I get the following message:

The web page you are viewing is trying to close the window.

Do you want to close the window ?

After that message there are two buttons, yes and no. Yes is the default. When i click on that one the first message re-appears, I again click "OK" and it's gone.

Again this is upon initial start-up so I am not trying to view a web page. I also do not even use IE. I use Firefox.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

My apologies. I didn't understand your answer initially. I just finished using the online tech support and that is exactly what they did. Sorry I didn't understand your response. I guess I need more explanation.

No problems at all.

That is what I'm here for. No harm, no foul. :emotion-2:

Hi, I'm having exactly the same problem, so thanks for your reply on here. It seems (through searching in this and the Vista64 forum) that the "minibcont" error is usually caused by Dell Support Center. However I have had my pc for over 2 years and it has only recently gone wrong. I am also a little anxious about uninstalling DSC (though I appreciate you and a number of other posters say users are better off without it).

How, precisely please, would I go about fixing the problem? Is it just a case of 1) Uninstall DSC     2) Restart Windows     3) Problem fixed!

Or is there a more complicated procedure?

Also, do you know how I would go about reinstalling it after fixing the problem?

Thanks,

Andy R (UK)
