I want to get an 8940 or 8950 XPS from the Dell outlet.  I can choose between Windows 10 and Windows 11.  I have two Dell machines running Windows 10.  I do not have a Microsoft account, and don't need or want one.

If I choose a machine with Windows 11, my research indicates to me that I may indeed be able to configure/setup the OS without creating a Microsoft account, but that I will keep getting nagged to create an account.

Is this true, or is there a way to configure a new machine with factory installed Windows 11 without creating a Microsoft account?

If I do create a Microsoft account, my understanding is that Microsoft will assign a user name, which cannot be changed.  Suggestions are to disconnect from the internet when setting up a new machine, and create a local account with a name of my choosing.  Later, create a Microsoft account, but never use it.
