Windows 7 and Studio Hybrid
Has anyone had any luck with Windows 7 on a Studio Hybrid? I tried and performance is worse than Vista, system frequently locks up, and display is poor. There is an updated Video driver dated 4/14 which helped a little, but color saturation is still poor. Have tried to run Windows Experience and it hangs for more than 15 minutes when I give up. 99% of the time system will not shut down by itself, hangs on logging out.

Installed Windows 7 RC. Everything worked first time. Updated graphics drivers available from Intel work nicely. Much better than the Vista experience.

Hello.
I am running Windows 7 on my Sudio Hybrid and it runs smooth and fast. No major issues exept the fact that I can not play a dvd movie (somithing that did not work in Vista, and that is the main reason I moved to Windows 7). I have not been runing any heavy programs on it, I use it as a HTPC and just sream movies (no problem) and play music or show pictures. Make sure that you update the Proximity Sensor Driver (5.0.0.1T4) it seems to be an important driver, then I would run CClean and cleanup the files and registry.
Good luck ;marten

Hello Studio Hybrid owners ;)
i updated my studio hybrid system today and everthing works fine! I only have a problem with the Proximity Sensor Driver. If installed, the output button for cd-rom doesn't work and I get an error on starting, that the acpi module could not been loaded (is that a right passive form? Im a german guy and english still gets me confused^^)
However, i deinstalled the Proximity Sensor Driver and it just works fine! Only a problem with itunes and the mediakeys, but i think i can solve this if i spent some time to find a plugin for the mediakeys. Now my question is, what does I need this driver for? Is it necessery for something, like energy saving or probably the hotkeys!?
Sincerley,
Pablo
//UPDATE: I have noticed some trouble with the volume wheel on the wireless keyboard. It doesn't work, but still shows the blue window on screen. Maybe the reason for my problems is the 64bit version of W7. Any suggestions?

I have upgraded my Hybrid to Windows 7 two days ago. I am having only one problem the CD eject button no longer works. As a side note I did notice some issue with the sound but I installed the sound driver suggested for vista 32 bit and it worked great with Windows 7 and fixed the issue I was having with choppy sound.
This is a link to the sound driver I installed

el_pablo,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
Are you having issues with your power management since upgrading to Win7? Are you located in the US?

Hi Ira,
have you installed Windows 7 32-Bit and does your Energymanagement (Sleep after 10 Minutes without activity and turn from Sleep to hibernate after 12 hours) still work?
Regards,
Pablo

Can you help me anyway?

el_pablo,
Someone had mentioned that some people were having this problem. I am waiting on a resolution and will reply once I get one. I am also keeping a record and reporting on what systems are having this issue and what country they are from.

The only thing I noticed the system doing was truing off the display after X amount of time. I didn't notice the system going into hibernate. Up to this point the only thing I have noticed not working is the eject button on the front.

I deinstalled the Media Buttons 5 and installed the 64Bit version of the Proximity Sensor Driver 4.0.0.21 from the Dell Driver CD. Now I have all features, except the changing from sleep to hibernate. Couldn't test it ... but I don't know if this is an option from the driver anyway ...!?

Hi Ira,
I think it is the same issue. Does your volume control still work, and if yes does you get a display of the volume control?
My last state was with Media Buttons 5.0.0.1T4 installed. You get the eject button working, but can't control the volume with the wheel on the keyboard. If you don't have a keyboard, it's probably a nice thing for you :)
