Broken under hinge part
Hello there guys!
What is the name of this part under the hinge? And how can i replace it? It seems very hard.
I have a dell xps 13 9360
Can a super glue work? If yes which super glue you know is very strong?
And repairing this, how much it would cost?

Everything under there fastens to the palmrest assembly, which is likely what you need to replace (at minimum, depending on whether other components are damaged that aren't shown in these photos).
The service manual:
https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/xps-13-9360-laptop/docs
The part:
https://www.parts-people.com/index.php?action=category&id=143&subid=927&refine=palmrest
Though the part(s) aren't expensive, if you have a shop do the job, the labor charge will be stiff - due to the fact that the entire system has to come apart and go back together.
No, adhesive will not hold in the long term.

@ejn63 Thank you so much for the answer!
I think it's the only broken part, I have the tools to do the replacement myself, but I am not a professional. Does it require lot of skill to replace it?
I took to a shop, they asked 280€ which is too much.
Thanks again.

In the parts link I failed to see this plastic part.
Also why it's called palmrest? it's under the hinge actually.
I don't mind to repair the piece myself, as long as I can find the replacement part, can I?
Thanks!

Exactly same problem with my 9360, the plastic piece is broken in the middle, this high traffic area really should be metal, adding cost of $0.02 , please it's XPS.

The screw post was broken off and I can tell that just by moving the display slightly when the back cover is off that something underneath is broken as well as the entire hinge assembly moves. I see that someone here posted that it's the Touchpad Assembly that needs to be replaced, which is basically the entire shell of the laptop that everything is secured to e.g. motherboard, battery, hard drive, display, etc. meaning that everything needs to be disassembled in order to replace this $50 part. Not a job for a novice and I see where a repair shop will charge $300 or more. I love the laptop but now I'm afraid to open or close it as the back cracks open 1/4" when I lift or try to close the lid!

Hi everyone, I have had the same problem, so just reporting on how I fixed it which seems to be working well for now! Plastic screw housing snapped, and I did not think that glue would be strong enough to keep in place as a lot of pressure each time lid opened. I used very small drill bit and drilled through screw hole into hinge, and then used small screw to screw directly into it. this seems quite rigid / working well, did have to do at an angle to ensure that the hole made was not near edge of hinge and of course have to be careful when drilling! I did not want to pay for replacement and this was fast fix for me (I have had XPS since 2016 so very happy overall as still great computer other than camera at base of screen!)
small regular screw

@nickoxforduk Great thinking. Do you have any photos of how your solution works on the inside?
