Replacement battery fails to charge XPS 13 9333

Swelling of the battery in the XPS13 9333 seems to be a common problem with the result that the track pad no longer works properly.  I was unable to find a stock replacement battery for the XPS13 9333 from Dell so I ordered one on eBay.  The new battery solves the track pad problem which instantly started working.  However, the XPS13 doesn't seem to like the replacement battery which is not a stock Dell part.  The battery fails to charge.  I have tried various suggestions found on the net from discharging the new battery, disconnecting it, holding down the power button, rebooting with battery disconnected, shutting down, reconnecting the battery... and many variations on that theme.

I would not have such an issue with Dell if they stocked a replacement battery for the the XPS13 9333 but they do not appear to.  Any suggestions here welcome.

If you've already tried two OEM Dell batteries, from Dell - and neither has been recognized, the Dell technical advice is correct - the mainboard is bad.

If "spliced" means "sliced" or "cut", chances are a short took out the battery circuit on the mainboard.

You can keep replacing batteries until the end of time - but it's the board that's faulty.

If the system isn't powering up on AC either, replace the adapter.

You can search for this part easily in your home country.

I have same problem. I've tested 2 different battery and batteryinfo on windows detects it correctly, but in bios it said "non-supported battery"

Old, oryginal (bulky one) is still charging and work correctly, but new do not charge.

I am sure, that mainboard works correctly, especially that is not only mine problem.

Please help.

This should not been marked as solved, as the problem has clearly NOT been solved.

Same problem here. Paid close to $2,000 for my XPS13 9333, it works perfectly aside from the battery which only lasts for one hour and a half, so I don't need a new laptop, just a new battery. This looks like a rip-off on part of Dell to force you to purchase original spares, much like printer manufactures do with their cartridges. I even doubt it is a legal practice at least in Europe, but I guess the European Commission of Competition is busy enough with Google, Microsoft, Amazon, etc.

It seems my best option is to sell my xps13 laptop with it's defective battery and purchasing a new one, but you can bet is not going to be another Dell.

Francisco, I share your feelings about Dell.  Not only must you buy a Dell replacement battery but you can't even buy it online.  Not only is the battery life short for me but, when powered up, the battery swells to the point that the track pad is unusable.

I am now in the market for a new laptop but it won't be a Dell.

I have the same laptop and the same problem.I’m sure that the MB is OK, because the old battery which is so swelling but can charge and the BIOS diagnostic is OK even can work very well without battery...I have tryed other three batteres which ‘non-supported battery ‘ is shown in BIOS and doesn’t charge...Maybe there is some setting or os identification options should be setting. Maybe it’s better to buy a new one,not dell.

Same problem here. Well, similar. Had to settle with a third-party battery.

First replacement battery didn't charge. The second one (four days old now) charges very slowly, and the indicator is nowhere near accurate. It lasts quite a while - good battery life, but it would suddenly warn that battery is low when the indicator showed somewhere around 1/4 to 1/3 battery life two seconds before.

Really want to get one online from Dell but Dell Malaysia doesn't have it.
