upgrading cpu of DELL XPS L502x i3 2310M to i7-2860QM

Hi everyone I want to upgrade my Delll XPS L502x from i3-2310M. my chipset is HM67 and motherboard model is dell "0YR8NN". I have seen many posts where i7-2670QM is installed on  "0YR8NN" motherboard but I could not find motherboard model for i7-2860QM. Can anyone suggest should I go with i7-2670QM or i7-2860QM.

Hi @mimmo81, I have i3 2310m on the HM65 chipset. So my current i3 for Matlab Simulink and ROS isn't enough...I was wondering to do the same you did, can you tell me how things changed? For being more precise, do you think that is worth it? btw tks for your contribution

Yeah you will see the difference, keep in mind tho that those processors are pretty old today. It might be not worth it anymore, but if you just browse You will be more then fine

Although I have replaced the processor and I am using ssd in it and nevertheless performance improvement is there as boot up time is now about 30 sec but if you can I shall suggest you to upgrade to at least 8th generation processor. Any of the previous generation not good as it will not support windows 11 and you will again be forced to upgrade. All the best.
