XPS 15 - 9510 - Touchpad - Intermittent touchpad lag

Hi,I had a touchpad issue with my XPS 15 9510,The touchpad is intermittently laggy and inaccurate. The problem does occur on Windows and Linux both. While in the bad state, the cursor moves more slowly and it's much more difficult to make precise movements.

I captured a Xorg log (event11 - DLL0945:00 04F3:311C Touchpad: kernel bug: Touch jump detected and discarded) When Touchpad cursor lag happen in Linux. The same problem happens while running Windows 10 or Windows 11.

I've tried disable i2c_hid pm in windows and still problems.

I found something related Discussions :

1. https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/libinput/libinput/-/issues/618#note_947995

Is it a hardware problem or a software problem ?

i suspect that they dont care about touchpad on Linux. Next time we'll think about it.

Same problem here. Archlinux using latest kernel 5.15.10-arch1-1. Intermittent (frequent) periods od lagging occur. Go away by themselves, usually as you stop using it.

Same problem, XPS 9510, running Ubuntu 20.04.  Have also experienced the problem from Live USB on Ubuntu 22.04, Manjaro, Fedora, and using several different kernels.  Also tried some simple things like using xinput to change a parameter to see if that might reset the problem. No temporary fix found yet. Starting to see if killing some kernel modules will lead to any clues.

Will likely return the laptop on Jan 5th if I can't figure something out.

I can also reproduce that this is related to the palm rejection on the side of the touchpad. Usually the cursor does not move when I move the finger on the very right side of the touchpad. Every time the cursor is laggy, the palm rejection does not work and I can move the cursor by touching the pad on the very right side.

I also tried out the mtouch drivers instead of libinput but the problem persists. so I suppose that the problem is related to the firmware of the touchpad.

I have the same issue on windows 11 even after clean install. I have all of the latest available drivers and windows updates, i do not have linux installed on my system as a secondary OS. I have latest bios currently available (1.22.0) I noticed on the drivers page that a new firmware for the touchpad is available (version A02) but having it installed also did not fix the issue with the touchpad. has anyone had a luck in fixing this?
