Issues restoring 64-bit images
We have recently seen some instances where 64-bit images will not boot after the restore process is complete; resulting in either a BSOD or a blank screen on some Dell models. If you experience this behavior, please try the following method to resolve the problems.
Create a 64-bit USB drive. Once ImageAssist is installed, run this command:
Please note, this drive will be formatted FAT32 and will have a file size limitation of 4GB on it. If you intend to host your image on this same drive, you will need to split your WIM into SWM’s less than 4GB.
Use this new USB drive to boot and perform the restore.
UPDATED 12/14/2015 - Please note the /secureboot switch for USB_Drive_Creator.exe has been depreciated in the latest 5.0.1.1 release of ImageAssist. The USB creator tool will now auto-create the drive based off the OS architecture it’s run from. e.g. if 32-bit, it will create a 32-bit PE. if 64-bit, it will create 64-bit PE.
