Samsung SD-612 Problems
I have a Dimension 8100 PC, and just within the last couple weeks, my DVD-Rom drive (SAMSUNG DVD-ROM SD-612) has been opening and closing on it's own. I have run my Norton Anti-Virus software to check for viruses, and all is o.k. I have scanned my PC using MIcrosoft's AntiSpyware beta program, and the only thing that it's catching is a Moderate Threat Level result that NewDotNet (Browser Plug-In which adds extra top-level domains to your name resolution system). I contacted Dell tech support and they told me I would have to call the Dell Spare Parts department. But, I felt as though I was being asked to purchase more than just a replacement DVD-Rom drive from the guy that I spoke with. Also, a friend of mine told me I should uninstall the drivers and then install the newest ones available for this drive. But, I've been unable to find new drivers.
Does anyone have suggestions for me before I start looking for a new DVD-Rom drive...or even a DVD-RW/CD-RW combo?
Thanks...
