I lost my Dell PC Restore because I have a dual boot setup, so I had to reinstall OS using the CD.  Therefore no Dell software and drivers, which turns out to be a good thing.  Do I really need the following Dell software?

 

Dell Desktop System Software - What does this do anyway?

Dell Diagnostics Utility (two downloads)

Intel App - Matrix Storage Manager (two downloads)

 

I have an XPS 400 WinXP MCE Pentium D 830, bios is the latest one.  I would like to leave off as many of these Dell software add-ons as possible.  I always felt my computer loaded slow from the factory and after two years it became horribly slow.  I tried cleaning and tweaking but just decided to wipe and reinstall.

 

Another question about Dell drivers, if my NEC dvd writer drive has two letters off from the drivers listed in my support page, I don't install them, correct?
