Upgrading old laptop

I want upgrade my laptop (DELL Latitude E6430, 14") from its current processor intel i5-3340M @ 2.70GHz to intel i7-3540. I also want to add an extra DDR3 SODIMM 8GB RAM 1600 to make it 16GB RAM overall. I want to know if this will be possible for my laptop and whether or not its compatible.

The CPU upgrade I want to buy is from Aliexpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32843133615.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.5fbb38daRndXIl&mp=1

I'm not an expert in replacing and upgrading hardware and would appreciate if someone could tell me what steps I should take once receiving the RAM and CPU chip if its feasible.

I also intend to buy a bigger capacity battery at some point because my current one (5200mAh) drains quite quickly.

Thanks

Welcome to the Dell Community  @OB456

This is your CPU upgrade list.

The 17-3540M is one of them.

2 x8GB for a total of 16GB will work with no problems.

You have 4 different batteries you can have for your laptop.

There is the 6 cell, 9 cell, media bay and slice.

Hi, is it worth making these upgrades, will it improve the performance of this laptop? Considering this is an old laptop.

Only you can decide that -- but the E6430s go for between $25 and $50 complete and working on EBay, so add up the cost of the upgrades against that number.  You may be able to find a newer system for about or even less than what you'd pay for upgrades on this one.

I bought mine for just under £160 (which is about 197.00 United States Dollars?) refurbished with 8GB Ram, 120GB SSD and Intel i5.

These upgrades (excluding battery) would cost me an additional £63. I don't know if its worth it. Would it make a difference?
