How do I file a complaint?
Hi Dell Community,
I need to file a complaint to Dell and can't seem to find the information on where to send a letter or make a phone call, this is absolutely frustrating.
So what's the issue? I have an Inspiron 14Z that I had sent in because I was having troubles with the display, it had cracked. This was back in July 2013. I had to pay for the display to be fixed on a computer that I had for less than a year because I hadn't bought the right coverage for it. Given that it is my only computer, I had no choice but the pay the fee. Well, I got the computer back and the display was still not working correctly. The crack was fixed, but the display would go wonky every so often.
I called Dell and they said to send it back. This was about 3 weeks ago. They would look at it. Now, I filled out that sheet that comes with the shipping box that asks if you give permission for them to change the system or do a system restore (the sheet wasn't sent back so I can't tell you exactly what the wording was). I wrote on that sheet and signed that I did NOT want them to do a system restore as I have a lot of computer programs on my computer that I cannot just download. Well, I got my computer back, the display is working. But they took out the motherboard and the hard drive without my consent! I wasn't even called and told that THIS was the issue. I was called, and a Dell customer support/tech person from India said "Oh, we don't have your parts so there's been a delay, we'll let you know when we have the computer fixed", at NO TIME during this repair status was I informed that they would have to make these two big changes, that are now going to cost me over 800 dollars in re-buying software?! And, on top of it, they didn't even put back the trial version of MS Office that had been on the computer in the first place, which I have three important deadlines for work by tomorrow.
I did try calling tonight. I told the technical support guy (from India) I wanted to talk to a manager or someone in the U.S., at NO TIME did he send me to a manager, let alone to another technical support team. What he ended up doing was putting me on hold for over 10 minutes and then transferring me to a concerns department that wasn't even open and the automated system hung up on me. And then, I search all over the website to find a postal mail address or a phone number, and can't find one. Come on Dell, if I wasn't already upset...something like that just made me more <ADMIN NOTE: Profanity removed as per TOU>
.I'm a researcher and a psychologist by trade, being on my computer is my livelihood. I have been patient, but now I'm no longer pleased with this. I've been a loyal Dell customer since 1999 (since I was an undergraduate), but now, I'm starting to rethink my loyalty to this brand. This has been absolutely frustrating and I don't think I'm willing to deal with this again.
