Baldur's Gate dies
I have installed Baldur's Gate and Tales of the Sword Coast, but when I try to start the games (I've tried various re-installs of all possible combinations), they freeze my system and the only way out is to power down.
The strange thing is that the Baldur's Gate game USED to work, but I had a failure on my hard drive and a Dell technician replaced the disk and reinstalled my system for me. Since then, Baldur's Gate has not worked. I suspect some driver or something, but everything else on the system works OK.
I've called the Baldur's Gate people, and they say there should be no problem. Easy to say . . . :-). I'm running a Dimension 8100 with Windows ME and a Turtle Beach sound card.
So far, this is the only program which WON'T work (including other games) since we rebuilt the disk. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it numerous times, always with the same results -- the first screen comes up, and the demos run OK, but as soon as I try to start the game, boom! Everything freezes. The only way out is to pull the plug.
I'm getting ready to trash the game . . .
Thanks.
