Connection has been lost

Almost every time I connect to Dellnet the same thing happens. Everything goes fine for a few minutes, I get into Delltalk and read a few posts, and everything loads rapidly. On the very next post the loading bar or whatever it is called slows to a crawl, and I finally get the the message "the page cannot be loaded". Once in awhile I will get the "connection has been lost" pop up, or that another program is trying to access the interenet. . I then sign out and hit the disconnect button in the sign in screen. Sometimes the modem won't release (the little monitors down in the tray have a red X through them) for 30-45 seconds. Then I sign in again and can browse all day (if I had the stamina). Once in awhile I have to repeat the sign out, sign in process once more, but everything seems to fine after that. It seems to happen to any site that I pull up, and only early in the session, so I don't think it is a Dellnet issue. Any got any suggestions....could it be some of my settings. Thanks for your help...
Spoke to soon! About to send this when the "connection has been lost" pop up appeared again. Had been connected about 20 minutes.
