Just took delivery of the Studio 15 (modell 1555) - very nice little machine. Downside is that it doesn't come with XP Pro as an option. Dell business sales advised it would be ok to downgrade to XP Pro so, armed with my XP Pro (SP2) media I slotted it in the drive and booted from CD.  (I need XP Pro as one of my business applications is unstable on Vista :-(

The install process went ok until the "Starting Windows Setup" is shown on the bottom strip. This is before the setup application takes you to things like the EULA, choosing or creating the partition, well before any "Windows" GUI runs up.

A couple of seconds later, I get the scary blue screen of death. I'm advised it could be HDD corruption or a virus and to run a CHKSDK/F. That proved fruitless. Each time I try to load from the XP CD media, I get the same BSOD. Luckily, I am a MS registered partner and have an XP Pro (SP1) master but that causes the same BSOD so I think I can rule out the media.

Would anyone like to suggest what I could do to get XP Pro up and running please?
