My computer is an inspiron 6400.

After reinstallation of OS SP2 I installed all necessary drivers specific for my system in the following order:

 

- dell notebook system software

- intel mobile chipset

- audio driver (sigmatel stac 92xx c-major hd audio)

- other drivers (graphic, network,...)

 

Everything was installed without any error message and the device manager shows no conflicts or any yellow signs.

But the only sound i hear is the windows startup sound. The media player is not able to play any of my music files (errorcode 0xC00D11BA).

I can play DVDs with Power DVD but without sound too.

 

I assume that the direct sound settings don't work properly but i have no idea how to fix it.

Or do i need more/other audiocodecs and if where can i get them?

 

Please help...
