US vs UK Power Adapter?
I'm going to be working in the UK and want to know if my power adapter for my US bought Inspiron 8600 is adequate (model no: PA 1650005D).
The power brick cites a range of input and output voltages that seems appropriate (input AC 100-240 v, 50-60hz; output: DC 19.5V, 3.34 A) .
The rather vague response I've gotten from telphoning technical support is that Dell 'recommends' I purchase a whole new PC adapter. This means I'll have to carry two powerbricks with my laptop, and seems quite unnecessary to me. When pressed, telephone support simply repeat 'recommends'.
This seems an unnecessary expense, when all I should really require is a lead that can be plugged into UK outlets?
Anybody else travel between the US and the UK and know if using the US adapter is adequate?
