I have a Dell Optiplex running Win7 Pro 64-bit.  It came without Bluetooth so I bought a bluetooth dongle to pair with an Azio bluetooth keyboard. (Azio has not been responsive to my request for help)  

After the dongle successfully installs as a USB input device, the Bluetooth icon shows in the taskbar, and  disappears when removed.  

I pair the keyboard as a new bluetooth device, enter a generated passkey successfully.  

The Optiplex finds the device and adds it to my “Devices and Printers”.

(Bluetooth Keyboard Properties show nothing for manufacturer, model, etc., but the connection is authenticated and shows as “currently connected.”)

However, the keyboard does not work.  Power is good, using a new battery, distance from dongle is just 2 feet, and yet nothing happens when I use the keyboard.  Restarted multiple times, same negative results.

The “SERVICES” tab is empty where it says “To use a service, select a check box”.

BT Driver software installation indicates “ready to use” for the following :

• Generic Bluetooth Radio
• Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI) #2
• Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator
• Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network) #2

Device Manager shows Bluetooth Radios

• Generic Bluetooth Radio
• Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator

In Bluetooth Settings, the Radio manufacturer is listed as Cambridge Silicon Radio, and “this device is working properly” using Port_#0003.Hub_#0004.   

Three Radio Driver files are in System32\Drivers

• Bthport.sys
• Bthusb.sys
• fsquirt.exe

In Bluetooth Settings, the Enumerator Properties have the driver date 6/21/2006 version 6.1.7601.24511

I have tried updating the driver but it says I have the best one already installed. 

The Enumerator driver file is in  system32\drivers\bthenum.sys

COM ports are COM5, COM6 and COM7 Incoming.

I tested the dongle on this Dell Optiplex, and successfully paired a BT mouse and a BT headphone, but like the keyboard, no services appear under the device properties tab. The mouse and headphones don’t work on the Optiplex..

I  tested the keyboard and dongle on an old WindowsXP computer with no native bluetooth, and they work flawlessly together.  The dongle also works flawlessly on WindowsXP  with the mouse and the headphones.

I have also tested the dongle and keyboard on a Chromebook, again they perform flawlessly together.

So I assume the problem has something to do with this particular Dell Optiplex. I am grateful for any assistance.
