I just installed a new 160GB Seagate SATA drive in my system, partitioned & formatted it with the Seagate DiscWizard software (two partitions--one primary, one logical, both NTFS), and then used Norton Ghost 9.0 to copy the two partitions on my 2x80GB IDE RAID-0 array over to it. I set the primary partition as bootable (it contains the OS & applications), while the second partition contains mostly data files and a couple of games. The copying process proceeded quickly and uneventfully.

After completing the copy process, I shut down, removed the RAID controller & drives from the system, reconfigured the BIOS to boot from the new SATA drive, and attempted to boot up. Everything appears to proceed normally and XP Pro starts to load, but then stalls at the blue Windows logo screen with the orangish horizontal progress bar along the bottom half of the screen, and never gets to the Windows desktop. The cursor is visible and follows mouse movement normally, but otherwise the PC is unresponsive. The 3-finger salute does nothing, and the system must be shut down with the power button. Attempts to boot in safe mode (no networking) give exactly the same results.

Anybody got any ideas about what's going on & how to resolve??
