2019 Dell XPS 13 damaged chassis
Hi All,
I have an old Dell XPS 13 that unfortunately has a bit of damage around the power button (from a previous drop). This eventually led to the aluminium chassis and the palm rest/top cover to snap off (exposing the power button.
Upon opening, I noticed that the screw mount for that corner was broken (and was most likely the reason for the screen to not close properly and eventually damage the chassis). I have managed to glue the screw mount back onto the chassis corner piece that broke off (using 2-part metal weld epoxy and it seems to be solid). However, I am not sure if that corner piece of the chassis is able to be held in place onto the chassis using the metal weld. There is only a small area of contact around the circular opening for the power button that the corner piece makes contact with the rest of the chassis.
Is this repairable? I can't find anyone selling just the chassis. I guess I could make it stronger by using superglue to glue the top cover piece down to provide extra bonding force.
TIA,
Vlad
