The battery charging light (XPS) blinks orange three times, then white for a longer blink. What does this code mean? When plugged in, the first screen says the battery is "not suitable" and will not charge. Unlike a previous poster, it doesn't seem to be a simple matter of the battery not seating properly

If the battery is dead, fine, but I don't want to spend $100+ on a non-returnable battery only to find out it's the charging circuit or system that's gone bad. Is there some on-board diagnostic I can use to check this?
