I have just takeb delivery of a new XPS8950. This was promised within 24 hpous of placing the order but actually took 6 days to arrive.

My problem is that the PC will not start. When I plug in the power lead, the poer button on the machine illuminates with a steady white LED although I have not pressed the power button. A fan starts but very little air moveement is apparent at the rear panel. The green LED below the power plug illuminates, as does the lettering on the side of the graphics card. However, that is all - nothing else happens. the are LEDs flashing on the keyboard and the is no video. The monitor screen remains blank and black.

I can turn off the PC by holding down the power button for several seconds - the PC does turn off and the LED on the power button goes out. However, after about 3 or 4 seconds, the power button illuminates again and the PC starts up once more to repeat the circumstances described above - fan but no LEDs on the keyboard and no video.

I have contacted Dell support and spent over one hour exlpaining these issues but have not received the promised responses. I have no idea what is wrong.

Any suggestions for a way forward would be most welcome.
