Go to SolutionXPS17 9700. "System" process load the CPU after BIOS 1.9.2 update
At the end of August 2021, I updated the BIOS on my XPS17 9700 from the version 1.8.2 to the latest 1.9.2.
The update went well, but then I noticed that the cooling fans are always on the medium speed and quite loud, even if the laptop is sitting idle and no apps are running. Reason for that was the "System" process, which was constantly loading the CPU by 6-8% (Task Manager).
In the previous BIOS version, the “System” process was loading the CPU much less, so I decided to revert back to 1.8.2. Surprisingly the issue immediately disappeared.
After few weeks the same BIOS update was installed by the windows update and the problem appeared again. Then I again downgraded back to 1.8.2 and everything became fine, so it's definitely the BIOS problem.
Dear DELL!!! Please check your 1.9.2 BIOS update for the mentioned machine, as it definitely has a bug, which cause the "System" process to load the CPU and as a result make the fans annoyingly loud!!! Please fix it!!!
p.s. currently I use the old 1.8.2 and without significant load the laptop is silent, which is cool. See screenshots attached.
