i was trying to remove a hard drive from an optiplex yesterday and the PSU molex connected to the Hard Disc refused to shift.

 

it seems to have some sort of movable clip, but it didn't flip up, or slide across, and the power cable refused to move at all pushed pulled or mildly jemmied under the (alledged) latch.

 

have i missed a trick?, do i need a special tool? or do i  need to be a bit more "persuasive" - but bearing in mind the HD is still good i don't want to use too much force.

 

would it be feasible to remove the IDE cable, and connect the drive to my laptop via usb/ide converter while its still powered from the Optiplex?
